Changes to Arrival and Dismissal Proceedures as of January 22, 2013:

Arrival:

o   If you drive your child to school, the drop-off time is between 7:35 and 7:50 a.m. You are encouraged to take advantage of the Before and After School Program if you need to drop your child off prior to 7:35 a.m.

o   We ask that all vehicle traffic pass through the parking lot area at all times. The “Buses Only” lane that passes in front of the school is also the fire lane that needs to remain free of any non-municipal vehicles at all times for emergency traffic and first responders.

o   Please be sure to accompany your child into the building any time you drop off your child after 7:50 a.m. using the main entrance by the office and signing your child in at the office.

o   A visitor’s pass must be displayed for all non-staff visitors if there is a need to enter any of the academic wings of the building. Please report to the office and sign-in to pick up the new bright yellow visitor pass if you are in the building during school hours for any reason other than to drop-off or pick up your child(ren).

Dismissal:
This is the most significant change that will begin  Jan. 22.

o   Parents/Caregivers will be required to pick up their child(ren) in the following locations depending on the grade level of your child. Please be prepared to provide your name and proof of identification if requested. Please share this expectation with other caregivers if someone other than a parent is picking up your child. Please notify the office by signed note in advance or phone (prior to 1:30 PM) if someone other than a parent/guardian is picking up your child:

o   Grade K: Parent pick up will continue in Mrs. Roy’s classroom.

o   Grade 1: Parent pick up will now take place in Mrs. Morneault’s room.

o   Grades 2-5: Parent pick up will take place at the Library doors in the main lobby area. This process will begin after all bus lines have cleared the main lobby (approx. 2:10 p.m.).

o   All students are expected to be picked up by 2:20 PM unless involved in an after school activity.

o   Please note “walkers” will no longer be allowed to leave the building without being accompanied by a parent (or an adult who is an approved caregiver) that has signed for your child.

School Philosophy:

Winslow Elementary School recognizes that the school is an integral part of the community. We will contribute to the development of its citizens by modeling respect for family, community and world. We celebrate the diversity of individuals and are committed to providing students with an opportunity to learn in a way that is most advantageous to each. All students will feel wanted, needed, valued, and safe. The success of this school shall be measured not only by the literacy and broad knowledge base which encourages life long learning, but also by the happy faces, healthy bodies, and curious minds it develops.
